A lifelong resident of Canaan, NH, Rick has been practicing forestry since his graduation in 1983 from the University of New Hampshire, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management. He has extensive experience in managing timberland, drafting and implementing forest management plans and conducting all phases of timber sales and harvesting operations. Rick has managed specific tracts of forest land for timber production, wildlife, maple syrup production, Christmas trees, water quality and aesthetics.

Keeping our forests safe from fire and pests is important to long term stability and is an area in which Rick has been extremely active. He has served as Assistant Fire Chief for the town of Canaan; Special Deputy Warden, State of NH Division of Forests and Lands and has spent time battling forest fires across the nation.

In an effort to help educate the public about the importance of our forests, he has volunteered in the Foresters in Schools program and has assisted in instructing for the NH Loggers Certification program. Evans has also served as Chairman on the Grafton County Advisory Council and is a member of the Society of American Foresters, the NH Maple producers Assoc, and the NH Timberland Owners Association.
